No matter where I go these days, I always seem to run into an advertisement for pumpkin spice something. From lattes to muffins to pancakes, and everything in between, our culture is obsessed (and with good reason)! Fall is peak season for pumpkin and other squash, so I plan on taking full advantage of these delicious flavors while I can. I’ve been bookmarking the most mouthwatering pumpkin spice recipes, so I have plenty of treats to enjoy all season long.
Now, I realize it’s hard to fall in love with the pumpkin craze when it’s rooted in sugar, gluten and dairy-filled options. But you don’t have to miss out on all the fun. The recipes I’ve found are still perfect for cozying up in the front of the fireplace or enjoying after a crisp walk. They just happen to be free of common allergens, processed sugar and chemicals, while embodying all the warm qualities we crave this time of year.
Here are just a few of my favorites…
My Pumpkin Spice Picks
Pumpkin Pie Chia Seed Pudding
Made with homemade pumpkin puree, this recipe is like diving into a freshly-baked pumpkin pie (minus the crust). Once you roast the pumpkin, the rest comes together easily in your blender. Just note: powdered ginger adds heat and can be a little overwhelming. I suggest starting with a smaller amount and adding more to taste. Find the recipe on the Liz Moody website here.
Dairy-Free Pumpkin Spice Latte
Everyone’s favorite fall beverage has a brand-new look. Coconut and almond milk replace traditional dairy, and maple syrup adds a hint of sweetness. The best part? This is actually made with real pureed pumpkin—which is much healthier (and tastier) than the artificially flavored syrups that are pumped into your coffee drinks. Learn how to make one for yourself on the Against All Grain website here.
Grain-Free Pumpkin Pancakes

Did you know you can make pancakes WITHOUT any flour? I see recipes like this popping up more and more. The “batter” is held together with eggs or banana or nut butter. What’s better than starting your weekend with grain-free, protein-packed, pumpkin spice pancakes like these from Wellness Mama. This recipe requires only 4 ingredients and minimal time to yield a seasonal breakfast that’s low in sugar and high in flavor. Find the recipe here.
Slightly more “Traditional” Pumpkin Pancakes
I said slightly more traditional. These pancakes come from Against All Grain and are made with coconut flour. This is a great alternative to regular flours as it is less processed and contains more protein. Combine that with non-dairy milks, a little honey and lots of pumpkin-y spices, you have an allergy-free, protein packed and delicious breakfast for the Fall.
Not Your Average Pumpkin Soup
And for one more, how about a pumpkin soup with a little extra pizazz…. chocolate AND chipotle. This soup will warm you up AND provide a rich, satisfying flavor. Here is the recipe from Local Kitchen Blog.
Now you have some pumpkin inspiration for how to make your own Fall recipes that fit into your diet. Give one of these a try and let me know how it came out.
